Background

Ryan Binkley, an American pastor, businessman, and candidate for president of the United States in the 2024 Republican Party presidential primaries, approached Carobini Creative for assistance in meeting the new debate qualification rules set by the Republican National Convention. Ryan’s campaign message centered on restoring faith in God, freedom, and each other to address the nation's divisions and financial troubles.

Objectives

The Ryan Binkley campaign faced several challenges: meeting the Republican National Convention’s new rules for the 2024 primary debates, which required a specific number of donations and national and state polling thresholds; acquiring 40,000 unique donors in a short period; and reducing the high cost per donor acquisition (CPA). Carobini Creative aimed to develop a scalable digital ad marketing campaign to support the campaign’s ground efforts, build an effective landing page to convert ad clicks into donations, and optimize the cost per donor acquisition to meet the campaign’s financial goals.

Strategy and Execution

To support the Ryan Binkley campaign, Carobini Creative implemented several key strategies. First, in collaboration with web design partners, they built a landing page that clearly explained the campaign’s need for donations and provided a direct call to action for individuals who clicked on the ads.

Initially, the cost per donor acquisition was high. Carobini Creative optimized the strategy by tapping into tens of thousands of political and religious email lists, adjusting audience targeting to more accurately reflect conservative donors, and continuously refining the ad campaigns based on performance data. This approach significantly reduced the CPA.

The strategic approach by Carobini Creative yielded significant results for the Ryan Binkley campaign: achieving the goal of 40,000 unique donors by the debate deadline and successfully lowering the cost per donor acquisition to a scalable amount through targeted optimizations.

However, there were significant challenges to overcome. The initial CPA was a few hundred dollars, but through optimization of audience targeting and the use of email lists, the CPA was reduced to a more manageable level. Additionally, the campaign faced an urgent timeframe, needing to quickly acquire a large number of donors within a short period. To meet this urgent demand, Carobini Creative implemented a robust and scalable digital marketing campaign.
